My Philosophy

I believe that anyone who invests in themselves can achieve a higher quality of life. That does not mean becoming problem free (I wish!), but rather, it means developing what I call a “toolkit” of understanding, acceptance, appropriate pharmacological and botanical treatments, lifestyle changes, and cognitive reframing to truly cope with the things life throws at us.

This also involves developing self compassion, a willingness to utilize your resources when needed, and learning to trust your mind and body, even in the face of medical and mental health challenges.

My goal is to reduce the stigma and intimidation for people seeking mental health care. I make it personable, use humor, and am very validating of YOUR experience.

Help Is Available for:

  • Get relief from panic, phobias, OCD, obsessions, fears, worry, and learn to manage stress.

  • Greatly reduce the disabling feelings that come from being sad, irritable, not having energy, sleep disturbance, and mood swings.

  • I specialize in the care of those who are seeking pre-maternal counseling, having mental health concerns during pregnancy, and/or those who have recently given birth and are needing assistance navigating all the new complexities, fatigue, worry, and responsibility that comes with new parenthood. Whether you're a struggling new parent grappling with guilt, doubt, and anxiety, or wanting to be a parent but feeling scared or frustrated with the process, there is help.  You can feel more empowered and confident in your role in your little one's life. As an LGBTQIA+ ally, I am happy to help grow all families.

  • The mind and body are one. Whether you’re struggling with chronic pain from back issues, fibromyalgia, headaches, neuropathy, obesity, medical trauma, pregnancy, or something else, come learn how to better cope and even reduce your pain burden. I provide unique therapeutic insights on managing this debilitating condition and offer chronic pain-focused medication and lifestyle interventions. This includes CBT-R, activity pacing, mindfulness, managing the “pain gate” with medications, and cognitive restructuring.

  • If you have been referred or are scheduled for bariatric surgery, I will collaborate with you and your surgical team to identify and address any barriers to a successful outcome. Together, we will work to strengthen the mind-body-gut connection and overcome any obstacles that may be related to your mental health or lifestyle, with the purpose of fully preparing you for surgery and helping you to achieve optimal results!

  • Designed for those who feel unseen and unheard in the complex medical system we navigate. Come feel listened to and understood, even if your history and symptoms are complicated.

My Treatment Modalities:

Together we will create an individualized treatment plan, tailored to your unique needs. This may include…

  • Psychiatric Medication Management

Medication can be a useful tool in treating a variety of conditions related to mental health. It can help to accelerate the brain's own healing processes while we address all of the other elements of mental health.

I utilize traditional medication protocols as well as offering expert guidance on safely combining nutraceuticals with prescription treatments.

  • Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy (talk therapy) is my preferred way to get to the root of the issue. Through discussion, exploration, and validation of your experience, we will work together to navigate and overcome the obstacles in your life.

I use several different modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for changing negative thought patterns, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for developing coping skills, Psychodynamic Therapy for exploring unconscious influences, and Behavioral Activation for increasing engagement in meaningful activities. These modalities are tailored to the unique person and situation.

  • Lab Testing

When appropriate, I use both basic and specialized lab testing to investigate the body’s inner functions and to better understand and address mental health concerns. These can include (but are not limited to):

    • Genetic Testing for MTHFR, MAO, Serotonin levels, HLA, and other mutations

    • Genomind testing for those who have had difficulty tolerating medications

    • Micronutrient testing

    • Food Allergy Testing

    • Hormone Testing

    • Neurochemical Testing

    • Cortisol Levels

  • Lifestyle Counseling

Mental and physical health cannot be separated. By addressing these lifestyle factors comprehensively, we can enhance your overall well-being, improve treatment outcomes, and empower you to form healthier routines and habits for long-term wellness.

    We will look into:

    • Sleep Problems: Improve sleep quality and habits.

    • Dietary Allergies: Identify and manage food sensitivities.

    • Exercise Habits: Enhance physical activity routines.

    • Fatigue: Address underlying causes of fatigue.

    • Nutrient Deficiency: Optimize nutrition for wellness.

  • Nutraceutical Medications

I use evidence-informed, recognized treatment protocols. Nutraceuticals or "plant medicine" can be used alone, or more often in combination with traditional medications, lifestyle modifications, and psychotherapy. This allows us to achieve a better result than any one approach, and can reduce treatment resistance.

Sessions take place in a welcoming, relaxed, and friendly setting. My patients often express their surprise at how quickly they can relax and freely express themselves, often from the very first visit.

  • Learn How I Can Help

When we speak with one another by phone, the goals are to get acquainted, to understand your treatment goals, and ensure a good fit. I will provide honest feedback on the interventions that will be needed to get you feeling better and can give an estimate on about how long that might take. If we are in agreement, we then can move forward to scheduling a 90 min Initial Consultation.

  • Creating and Implementing Your 360 Degree Treatment Plan

Our first visit will be very eventful! I want to get to know you. We will cover your full medical, social, lifestyle, and psychiatric history. I go into depth regarding every aspect of your overall health, with the goal of identifying  areas of improvement as they pertain to your mental health concerns. From there, I apply a 360 degree approach to create a plan that includes recommendations on medications, supplements, diet, lifestyle modifications, psychotherapy, and lab testing, as necessary, based on my findings and your goals. I approach every recommendation with time and cost effectiveness in mind.

    Fee: $ 400

  • Stay Connected and Monitor Your Progress

Part of what makes my job so rewarding is seeing my patients get better! Once we set your 360 degree plan in motion, we will meet every few weeks—more frequently at first—to make sure you are tolerating treatment and to find out how you are thinking, feeling, functioning, and improving. This is also the time when we can make adjustments as needed. I sometimes use rating scales for an objective measure of your progress.

Your psychiatric follow-up visits can also be combined with therapy. In this case, we'll begin by reviewing your medications, supplements, lifestyle changes, and lab results as needed, then transition into your therapy session.

    Fees:

    75 Minute Follow up +Therapy Session $375

45 Minute Follow Up Session $250

  • I'm Listening!

Let's talk! If we agree that taking a deeper look into the issue using psychotherapy would be the best course of action, I will recommend meeting weekly or every 2 weeks. Everyone experiences psychotherapy differently and there are many different techniques. Before we get started with therapy, we’ll agree on specific goals and outcomes, the timing and frequency of sessions, and a tentative projection of how many sessions we will have. As we get to know each other, I will use appropriate interventions (CBT, DBT, EMDR, EFT Tapping, Stress Inoculation, Behavioral Activation, Psychodynamic principles, etc.) to gently guide you to your own self realizations. I will provide honest feedback and specific recommendations when appropriate as well. The goal is for you to feel safe, supported, heard, seen, and known.

Fee: 60 Minute Therapy Session $300

Please note I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance. However, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement. This approach allows me to offer personalized care tailored to your needs, including:

  • longer appointment times

  • direct communication with me

  • easy scheduling with more availability and flexibility

  • integration of complementary and alternative approaches

  • no hassle with insurance companies.
